What you are buying
One or more PDF manuals, delivered as files. There is no app, no login, and nothing that expires. Each volume comes as two files — one laid out for reading on a screen, one for printing on US Letter paper. Payment and delivery are handled by Gumroad.
What you may do with them
They are for you and your household. Print them, write in them, keep them on as many of your own devices as you like, and pass a printed copy round your own family.
What I ask you not to do is upload the files anywhere public, resell them, or hand the PDF on in bulk. This is a one-man operation, and that is the whole of the enforcement mechanism.
Free updates
When a volume is corrected or extended, everybody who bought it gets the new edition free, at the email address they bought with. That includes corrections to any method that turns out to be wrong.
What the books are not
They are general information, not professional advice, and not a substitute for a licensed trade. Work involving combustion, gas, electrical, plumbing, structural change, roof or ladder access, chainsaws, livestock, or home butchering is subject to your local codes and may require a licensed trade, a permit, or training. Check before you start. The household-remedies chapter is not medical advice. Livestock health is veterinary work.
Savings figures are U.S. averages and my own measurements at my own place. They will vary with your climate, your house, your land and your rates. Every figure in the books is shown with the arithmetic so you can put your own numbers in place of mine.
Who is writing
Jonas Hale is a character. He narrates these manuals and the videos, and he is drawn rather than photographed. He does not represent, and is not affiliated with, the Amish, Old Order Mennonite, or any other religious community. The methods are not a character — all one hundred and thirty-six were built, run and measured, and the eight that failed are printed as failures.
